Folkestone manager Neil Cugley wants striker Stuart King to keep his hot streak going in Saturday’s FA Cup first round qualifying tie at Badshot Lea – and give Invicta’s coffers a boost at the same time.

King made it seven goals in four games with a brace in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Eastbourne Town and Cugley felt his forward, who scored a hat-trick at Chipstead five days earlier, produced his best performance yet in a Folkestone shirt.

Cugley (pictured) said: “Apart from his two goals, King worked really hard and kept the ball well and with a bit more luck he could easily have had another
hat-trick.”

Now Cugley hopes King can add to the FA Cup goal he scored in the 3-1 preliminary round win at Herne Bay last month and bring another smile to the face of acting club chairman Mark Jenner.

After picking up £1,750 prize money for the Bay victory, Folkestone will collect a further £3,000 if they overcome Badshot Lea.

Cugley said: “Every chairman wants to get through a few rounds of the FA Cup nowadays because of the prize money that’s available.

“You have got to try to make the most of the financial opportunity the cup offers.”

Like Folkestone, Badshot Lea are still unbeaten in the league but they lost in the FA Vase last Saturday, 3-1 at Colliers Wood.

“I know they lost at the weekend but they are unbeaten in the league and we’ve had them watched,” added Cugley.
