Folkestone Invicta's battle against the drop could be made harder following an approach from Carshalton for midfielder Robbie Kember.

Fellow Ryman League Premier Division side Carshalton have put in a seven-day approach for the Invicta man who must now decline or accept terms.

It’s a blow for manager Neil Cugley who is already facing a relegation battle on limited resources.

Cugley (pictured) said: "We’ve got about 12 or 13 players and it is frustrating but you just have to get on with it.

"I will be glad when the transfer deadline passes on March 31 because then I will know exactly what I players I have got."

Kember is currently suspended and wouldn’t be available for this weekend’s home match against Hendon.

And Cugley will hold no grudges if Kember decides to move join his local club.

"I wouldn’t blame him," said the Invicta manager. "He is a good lad and competitive and those are the people we need to help the club stay up. But with finances as they are, we will wait and see."

Folkestone will face a battle off the field to attract supporters for the Hendon game as the 3pm kick-off clashes with England’s European Championship qualifier in Wales.

Hendon were unable to change their schedule which left Cugley a little frustrated.

He said: "It’s ridiculous really. It is awkward for Hendon and I understand why they couldn’t do it.

"It’s getting difficult for non-league clubs to generate a return and for midweek there is usually a big game on television. Luckily for us we have some loyal support and hopefully we will get them a win."
