Police have taped off a block of flats and a footpath in Ashford as part of a serious crime probe.
Officers are standing guard in Grampion Close following an incident in a ground floor flat close to Canterbury Road.
Police at the scene this morning
Forensic teams and paramedics were called to the scene yesterday and two officers remain in the road this morning.
A neighbour told KentOnline how police were first called at about 10.30am yesterday.
"I first knew something had happened when I saw three paramedics and two police officers outside the flat," she said.
"As the day progressed, the paramedics left but more officers including a forensic team turned up.
"That's when I realised something quite bad had happened."
Grampion Close is on the Quantock Drive estate and can be accessed via a footpath off Canterbury Road.
"They didn't tape off the flat and the footpath until the afternoon," the neighbour added.
"It's really quiet around here – we hear the odd argument but that's from people passing through as quite a lot of people use the footpath to get to Sainsbury's.
"It's a nice quiet area and all of the neighbours keep themselves to themselves."
Another witness said police guarded the property overnight and were focusing on the entrance hallway as part of their investigation.
Police have been contacted for more information.
