Investigation after suspected arson attack in Sheldwich Close in Ashford

An appeal has been launched after the front door to a house was set alight in the middle of the night.

Police investigating the fire in Ashford are treating it as suspicious and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

It was reported just after 1.15am on Saturday when residents in a property in Sheldwich Close woke to find their front door was on fire.

The blaze was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Detectives are treating the incident as arson and are appealing for anyone with information or CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage which may assist enquiries to come forward.
