Film lovers may have to pay an astronomical sum to watch the latest Star Wars blockbuster - depending on which Kent cinema they choose.

Figures show an adult couple going to watch The Last Jedi will pay as much as £28.50 - and that’s before forking out for popcorn, sweets and drinks.

Elsewhere, a couple visiting one of the county’s independent cinemas can see the movie for a quarter of that price, at just £7 for two - as long as they can get hold of a ticket.

Kent Online has compared cinema prices in the county

The latest instalment of the popular sci-fi series was released in cinemas last week, but cinema-goers might want to take a look at our chart before deciding where is the best-value place to watch the film over the festive period.

The most expensive cinema was the Odeon at Chatham, where an adult ticket costs £14.25, and £11.75 for children. A group ticket costs £40, which would save a family of four either £9.50 or £12.

In comparison, the Cineworld in Rochester is £2.15 cheaper for adults, and the family ticket is £36.40 - £3.60 cheaper.

The Carlton cinema at Westgate-on-Sea is the cheapest in the county, with movie lovers able to pay just £3.50 to get in. There were also similarly good deals at Margate Vue which costs £4.99 or £19.96 for a family of four.
