A young man was taken to hospital last night following fears that he would jump off a bridge in Ashford.

Police were called just after 6.30pm to a report that a man was on the wrong side of the barrier on a footbridge over the A2070, just after J10 of the M20.

Officers spoke with the man at around 6.50pm, to check on his welfare.

The road to Brenzett was closed as a precaution while officers attended the incident.
