The Met Office has issued a yellow wind warning as this week's bad weather looks to be getting worse.

The authority's message has been shared by Kent County Council, as the region prepares for gusts of up to 65mph.

In the short-term, it's predicted that Kent's rain will ease this afternoon before experiencing a dry night.

However the story is different for Thursday and Friday.

Isolated heavy showers will be experienced across south east England tomorrow, but there is a likelihood that much of Kent will remain dry in the morning.

Kent will see sunny spells on Thursday, unlike Friday when it's predicted it will be "rather cloudy with widespread showers or longer spells of rain."

It's the wind that is causing the most concern, with a gradual increase throughout Thursday.

Overnight it will become stronger and will likely peak during Friday morning.

KCC is warning residents of possible travel disruption due to the gusts.

The authority added: "Although it is expected to be windy across all areas, the winds will be strongest in southern coastal counties where we could see gusts of 45 to 55 mph inland and as much as 55 to 60 mph along the coast.

"Impacts could include difficult driving conditions, disruption to transport and damage to trees and temporary outdoor structures.

"Although no wind warning is out for areas further north we could still see a few impacts."

The rain and showers will ease over the course of the day, and Saturday is anticipated to have a mix of sun and light showers with some isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms.
