A new coronavirus treatment centre has been set up in Kent, with texts sent to nearby residents regarding its use.

The new site, being called Ashford Central Access Clinic, popped up on the town's Musgrove Allotments earlier this week.

This facility located behind the Beaver Inn on Beaver Road is accessible by appointment only, and people are warned there are no walk-ins.

In a message sent to residents registered with nearby GPs, the NHS said: "Our MUSGROVE site has been prepared to handle patients that may have suspected COVID-19 and to offer them essential Primary Care Services.

"Please see the website for further information. Thank you."

Ashford's centre comes after the launch of similar branches across the county, including one at the Headcorn aerodrome and a so-called 'hot' site at Estuary View in Whitstable.
