A couple have 2,000 reasons to smile after winning kmfm's Love is in the Air competition.

Kayleigh Thomas and boyfriend Peter bagged £2,000 in the P&O Ferries-sponsored competition on the station's breakfast show.

The couple were originally on the show, with Garry and Emma, earlier this week, when they correctly answered three Valentine's-related questions.

And, earlier today, the finalists were pitted against each other - with each given 30 seconds to convince listeners they were worthy of the cash.

Kent voted for their favourite couple - and Kayleigh, from Boughton under Blean, and Peter, from Marden, won.

The pair have been saving up for years to buy their first house, and spoke about winning the money so they could finally move in together.

They had 47% of the overall vote and an emotional Kayleigh and Peter were announced as winners at 8.30am.
