Two M20 sliproads are set to be permanently closed as part of the ongoing junction 10a improvement scheme.

From Monday, August 5, the coastbound slip road onto the M20 at junction 10 and the London-bound exit slip road onto the junction will be shut to allow for new ones to be constructed.

It comes as part of a multi-million pound project in Ashford to build junction 10a, expected to open in September.

Highways bosses say those travelling from the coast to Ashford wishing to leave at junction 10 should instead leave at junction 9 of the M20.

Drivers going from Ashford towards Dover and wanting to go on the coastbound M20 are advised to join the motorway at junction 10 using the London-bound on-slip and then exit at junction 9 before rejoining the M20 in the coastbound direction.

A Highways England spokesman said: "We understand there is never a convenient time to undertake roadworks and appreciate your patience while we are undertaking the construction of this new junction which will open in 2019."

Meanwhile, an application has been made by highways bosses to extend working hours to include Sundays and bank holidays.
