A man accused of stabbing a rival in the arm with a rusty serrated blade and running away has been acquitted of all charges.

Daniel Griffin, was accused of wounding with intent and unlawful wounding against Daniel Christian at a home in Ashford in November 2019.

But a jury at Canterbury Crown Court earlier today unanimously found the 35-year-old from Brenzett, not guilty of both charges following a week-long trial.

Prosecutors told jurors a fight erupted between the two when Griffin “headbutted and slashed (his victim’s) arm with a knife”.

Mr Christian argued it “was not possible” for the deep wound to his left elbow to have been self-inflicted, as suggested by the defence.

Nicholas Hamblin, defending, told Mr Christian: “I’m going to suggest your version of events are just not correct, you had a knife and you were injured.

“It was a result of you waving the knife around when Mr Griffin resisted you using it.”

“No, how could that happen, look where the wound is, that’s not possible,” Mr Christian replied.

Griffin, of Moore Close, Brenzett, was released from the court cells shortly after the verdict.
