Ashford: Man arrested over stolen copper cables

A man has been arrested in Ashford after copper cabling was recovered by police following a warrant.

Officers from the Canterbury Divisional Support Unit attended an address in Chilmington Green where they discovered around a tonne of the suspected stolen cables.

They were seized by police along with cutting equipment.

A 57-year-old man from Ashford was arrested on suspicion of theft and then released pending further enquiries.

The investigation is ongoing.
