Man arrested in Ashford town centre on suspicion of making malicious communications

Police swooped in to arrest a 49-year-old man on suspicion of making malicious communications in a busy town centre.

Officers arrived at Bank Street in Ashford shortly before midday today (Saturday, May 21) to make the arrest following reports the man had been acting suspiciously.

Police community support officers and four police officers attended the scene and the man was placed in a van and taken into custody.

He is currently being held in custody for further questioning.
