Kent Fire and Rescue Service cut man free from car after it rolled onto its roof in Victoria Road in Ashford

A man who was taken to hospital after a car crash in Victoria Road in Ashford last night is suspected of drink driving.

Firefighters had to cut the man free from the wreckage around 11.40pm after his Audi A3 had rolled onto its roof.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS), Police and South East Coast Ambulance service all attended the incident and there were no other vehicles involved.

Mike Blundred, crew manager, said: "We had to make access to the car to get a spinal board in. We were there for about an hour."

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was taken to hospital with a suspected neck injury.

A spokesman for Kent Police confirmed the incident and added: "The driver was arrested on suspicion of drink/driving and has been street-bailed to attend Ashford Police Station after he is discharged from hospital."
