A man has been injured after being hit by a car on an infamous junction in Ashford.

Emergency services were called after the vehicle collided with the pedestrian in Somerset Road.

Police and ambulance services were called to the ring road at the junction with North Street at around 7pm on Saturday.

The road was closed for around an hour while the victim was treated after being struck by a 4x4.

It marks the second time this year that someone has been hit at the junction, which has been the scene of numerous accidents in recent years.

The road was blocked after a person was hit on the same part of the junction on the evening of February 1.

Thankfully, the pedestrian avoided serious injury, but that has not always been the case.

In 2019, there were three similar accidents that saw pedestrians taken to hospital in the space of just four months.

A secondary school pupil sustained leg injuries after being hit in April, less than a month after a woman was taken to hospital for the same reason.

Just weeks earlier, a pensioner suffered a head injury at the same spot.

Kent County Council spent thousands redesigning the crossing in 2016 but the number of accidents led residents to call for a review of the safety features.
