Air ambulance Mersham: Man impaled on railing spike

Emergency services were called to a village after reports that a man was impaled on a railing spike.

The air ambulance was scrambled to Mersham-le-Hatch along with paramedics and the fire brigade after the incident at 5.20pm yesterday.

A man in his 20s had suffered an “accidental injury” after a fall, suffering injuries to his leg and his body.

He was taken via road to Kings College Hospital in London for urgent treatment.

Ambulance service spokesman Brain Cumming said: “We responded to a call after a man in his 20s was impaled on a railing spike.

“We sent an ambulance and our hazardous area response team (HART) and the air ambulance and fire service also attended.

“The patient was impaled in the leg and was taken to London for further treatment.”
