A 57-year-old man was killed when he was struck by the hydraulic arm of a tipper lorry in Kent.

The man was delivering stone to an address in Budds Lane, Wittersham, near Tenterden, at about 12.15pm on Monday when the tragedy happened.

The man, from Ashford, has not yet been identified. Kent Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police spokeswoman said: "The vehicle is being checked by specialists to confirm that there were no defects, following which the Health and Safety Executive will take over the investigation."
