Police called after man spotted with knife in Kennington, Ashford

Police are on alert after a man was spotted wielding a knife in broad daylight.

Officers were called to a road in Kennington, Ashford, after the suspect was seen with the weapon yesterday.

He was seen by onlookers carrying the knife as he walked through Grasmere Road, Bybrook Road and Beecholme Drive at about 1.30pm.

By the time officers were called to the scene, the suspect had already left the area.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at about 2.10pm yesterday to a report that a man had been seen holding a knife in Beecholme Drive, Ashford.

"The incident occurred at about 1.30pm and the man had left the area by the time the report had been made.

"Details of the incident have been recorded and brought to the attention of local officers for further inquiries."
