A MEMORIAL rose garden to honour 21-year-old Ashford murder victim Amanda Champion is expected to open in November.

Amanda's Garden was the idea of her work colleagues at BP Travel Marketing Service on Ashford's Orbital Park who wanted to create a permanent place to remember her. She worked there in the dispatch department.

The garden will be made up of special Amanda, Champion and Remember Me roses and will include two benches, one bearing a memorial plaque which is currently being engraved.

The garden is being created in the grounds of the warehouse and offices and has been funded by her work colleagues.

More than £800 has already been raised for the project through donations and fund-raising events including raffles and cake sales, but it is hoped the final total will top £1,000. Companies who supply BP have also donated money.

Amanda was murdered in July. The funeral service is set to take place next Tuesday (September 23) at St Mary the Virgin Church, Willesborough, starting at 11am.

Amanda's killer is still at large. Police officers so far have no motive for the murder and have not released the cause of death.
