Two arrested after thefts from shop on Ashford High Street

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of theft, after trying to flee a town centre.

Passers-by saw two police cars parked on the corner of Elwick Road and Station Road, Ashford , in the process of detaining the two men.

The two men were arrested on Elwick Road this afternoon

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 2.30pm today following a report of theft from a supermarket in Ashford High Street.

"Officers attended and two men were arrested in Elwick Road, Ashford on suspicion of theft. They remain in custody while enquiries continue."
