Traffic moving again on M20 J9 Ashford after police incident

Both lanes of the M20 near Ashford have now reopened following an earlier police incident.

The London bound carriageway of the M20 was closed between J10a and J9 near to the A20, while the coast bound carriageway is closed between J9 and J10 after a distressed man had been seen in the area.

Police had closed the M20

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 5.45am to a report of a distressed man near Junction 9 of the M20.

"Officers attended and located the man, who is safe and has been handed into the care of medical professionals."

Kent Highways said the road was reopened shortly before 8am following the incident.

However, drivers are being warned to expect delays in the surrounding areas.
