A mum-of-two killed herself after sending a picture to her ex-boyfriend with a rope around her neck, an inquest has heard.

Healthcare assistant Lucinda Lum, 46, hanged herself at her home in Blossom Lane in Orchard Heights, Ashford, following the breakdown of a relationship with an ex-patient, the hearing was told.

She had also left a message on Facebook saying goodbye.

An inquest at the Archbishop’s Palace in Maidstone heard how Mrs Lum - who had a history of depression and anxiety and suffered from type 2 diabetes - had taken a dangerous level of antidepressant medication before taking her own life.

In the hour before her death on April 23 this year, she had written letters to her daughters.

She also sent a number of messages to her ex-boyfriend, who had attempted to end their relationship after a party on the previous night, the hearing was told.

He contacted one of Mrs Lum’s daughters to make them aware, after one of the messages included a picture with a rope around her neck.

Coroner Katrina Hepburn told the hearing: “At 5.02pm she updated her Facebook with a message saying ‘so long’.

“The mobile phone was found with her and was found on the floor.”

The coroner concluded that the death was suicide.

Ms Hepburn added: “I’m satisfied that she intended to die.

“She had made attempts to overdose and given she was alone in the property at the time and the background facts of her relationship and loss of her job.

“The fact she wrote a note to her family means I’m satisfied she intended to die.

“The evidence from the police shows there was no third party and that this was indeed a suicide.”

Mrs Lum leaves a husband and two daughters, the inquest heard.
