Eight residents of a single street are celebrating after splitting a £270,000 lottery jackpot.
Seven residents of Evans Road, Ashford, received £30,000 in the People’s Postcode Lottery draw - while another got £60,000 after buying two tickets.
Their TN24 0UA postcode was announced as the winner yesterday.
Childminder and £30,000 winner Louise Taggart said at the time: “Wow, that’s brilliant! I feel a bit numb really.”
The 44-year-old was with her husband Steve when she found out the good news.
Steve said: “We’ve missed out on a couple of holidays and one of them was supposed to be two weeks with my mum and dad, which is time we won’t get back again.
"So, it’s good to know we’ve still got that money in the pot.”
Louise added: “We’ll be able to have a nice holiday away together as a family. I also want to get the bathroom re-done and we need a new en suite too. So, we can probably do both now.
“We’ll celebrate with a glass of champagne later on maybe.”
Graham Gardiner, a 60-year-old driving instructor, also won £30,000, and was with his wife Debby and their family when they got the good news.
He said: “Thirty grand?! Wicked. That’s fantastic!
“It’s quite funny. Because on Saturday just gone, [Debby] said to me ‘We’re never going to win this you know, because we haven’t even got a doorbell’.
“It means a lot. I’d like to go on a Florida holiday with the family because I like all the theme parks.”
The other winners wished to remain anonymous.
People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Jeff Brazier, who revealed the prize amounts via video call, said: “Brilliant news for some of our lucky players in Willesborough.
"It was great to hear how Louise and Graham plan on spending their winnings, with a little help from the families of course.
“A massive congratulations to all of our other lucky £30,000 winners in TN24 0UA.”
People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day. People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws.
A minimum of 33% of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise over £750 million for thousands of good causes across Britain and internationally since 2005.
