Bosses behind plans for a new industrial park on the edge of Ashford have released striking images of what the site could look like.
Developers at the GSE Group are working on plans for the multi-million pound Waterbrook Park off Bad Munstereifel Road near Junction 10.
They are set to submit a planning application to Ashford Borough Council (ABC) next month for the £150m scheme, which will include 14 new commercial buildings, a new 650-space truckstop and as many as 500 homes.
GSE Group managing director Darrell Healey said: “Across Kent there is a growing shortage of high quality commercial property.
“Waterbrook can help Ashford realise its full potential by supporting the growth of existing local businesses and helping attract new ones.
“With Waterbrook, and the town’s Big 8 development projects, Ashford is set for further economic growth and the outlook for the borough is positive.”
Bosses are expected to submit a full application for the new truckstop within the next few weeks, along with an outline application for the rest of the site.
Developers are also proposing new office and light industrial space for up to 300 people, which will be designed for small and medium sized businesses to use.
Canterbury-based Clague Architects has designed the new commercial buildings and truckstop.
Managing partner Karl Elliott said: “Today’s businesses need flexible space.
“The new units, each designed to high environmental standards, will offer a home for a very wide range of businesses and satisfy the known demand for these types of premises.
“Locate in Kent, the county’s inward investment agency, has acknowledged a strong demand for buildings of this size and function, especially in areas with great transport links, and so this seems a perfect fit for Ashford.”
A new Jaguar Land Rover dealership at Waterbrook is due to open in 2019, with staff at the existing Orbital Park dealership relocating to the new branch.
