Investors have pumped £150,000 into upgrading a golf club in Kingsnorth.

The former Homelands Golf Centre, which closed suddenly in December, will re-open as Kingsnorth Golf Club and Driving Range over the Easter weekend.

Five business partners have invested in the new venture including Mark Chilcott, who will become the centre’s director of golf.

Mr Chilcott, 46, who is currently overseeing the development of the site in Ashford Road, said: “Ashford is crying out for something like this. We’re spending £150,000 updating and improving the centre."

The course currently has nine holes and 18 tees, but Mr Chilcott says he plans to extend this to 27 tees over time. He is also making improvements to the split driving range, one side to be used by members of the public, and the other for coaching and members. He also plans to add up to eight new greens.

Homelands, which covers 53 acres, closed suddenly in December 2013 following financial problems.

The centre will reopen on Friday, April 18 to former members and the public.
