The funeral of the late TV presenter Paul O'Grady is to be held at Port Lympne Safari Park.

The star was a regular visitor at the animal attraction in Hythe, living just three miles away in Aldington near Ashford.

The 67-year-old was well known with the park and even judged competitions for them.

Following his death, Port Lympne paid tribute to him on its Instagram page.

It said: "We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Paul O'Grady – a local supporter of Port Lympne and the work we do. We were incredibly grateful to have had him visit us."

It is thought there will be a service at a nearby church before a celebration of the drag queen-turned-broadcaster's life is held at the venue.

The animal lover's death has also been confirmed, with his official death certificate saying he died from sudden cardiac arrhythmia.

The British Heart Foundation describes that as a cardiac arrest with no known cause.

The death certificate showed long-time friend and former PA and agent, Joan Marshrons, registered the entertainer's death six days after he died at home, the Daily Express reported.

Paul's husband, Andre Portasio, revealed the news of his death in a statement on March 29 while villagers in Aldington paid tribute to their celebrity neighbour.

Mr Portasio said: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.

"We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.

"He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion."
