A man in his 30s is fighting for his life after being stabbed at a house party in a quiet cul-de-sac.

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man following the suspected knife attack at Lakemead in the Singleton area of Ashford.

Officers were called shortly before 6am yesterday and two police vans, cars and a forensics van remained at the scene for most of the day.

On Facebook it was reported that forensics teams were searching in the gardens for a bread knife, and there were rumours the house party was gatecrashed.

VIDEO: Police remained at the scene for several hours.

The street was cordoned off for several hours and officers were seen talking to neighbours.

A police spokesman said a man had been taken to hospital with "injuries consistent with a stabbing" and said the victim remains in a critical but stable condition.
