Ashford: Police called to travellers pitch up in Willesborough

Police were called after travellers arrived in Willesborough.

Eight caravans have parked up on land off Hunter Avenue.

Officers attended and deferred the matter to the local council, which owns the land.

Officers attended and deferred the matter to the local council, which owns the land.

The arrival of the caravans was reported on Friday (June 16) and the ward councillor conformed that they were gone by that same day.

Cllr Alex Howard said: “A traveller group moved onto the land on Hunter Avenue opposite Orion Way.

"I’ve visited the site a number of times and they were moved on.”

Ashford Borough Council would have the power to issue an order to move the travellers on.
