A brand new shopping experience for Ashford opened its doors this week.
In what could be the start of a reversal of fortunes for the beleaguered shopping precinct, national retail chain PopUp Britain has set up shop in the town’s Park Mall.
The company has taken over the vacant former Millets camping supply shop to offer small businesses the chance to try out the High Street.
The idea is particularly aimed at firms who began life online, and offers a space where they can do business face-to-face.
The project has been spearheaded by Town Team manager Jo Wynn-Carter, who joined the town’s mayor, Cllr David Smith, for the ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday evening.
Mrs Wynn-Carter said: “It’s very exciting for Ashford. Businesses can come in and trial the High Street, and this gives them time to test whether it’s going to work for them to open a store."
Five businesses have taken space in the new store.
