Rail services from Ashford to Brighton affected after a person was hit by a train at Cooden Beach Station in Collington in East Sussex

Rail services from Ashford to Brighton have been cancelled after a person was hit by a train.

The victim was struck at Cooden Beach Station in East Sussex by the 11.32 service from Ashford International.

A spokesman for Southern Railway confirmed the incident and said: "The line was closed, and replacement buses ran between Hastings and Eastbourne with a rail shuttle service in place between Hastings and Ashford International.

"Approximately 70 people were on board the train which was met by the Southern area station manager at Collington.

"The line has now reopened but delays, short notice alterations and some cancellations may be expected."
