A husband and wife team worked together to get young villagers into the Easter spirit yesterday.

Clare and Daniel Babicz spent their Easter Sunday morning walking around the roads of Hamstreet, near Ashford, dressed as Rapunzel and the Easter Bunny, playing music and waving to kids and adults alike.

The husband and wife team cautioned everyone ahead of time to maintain social distancing

Mrs Babicz runs Sugar Plum Princesses, a company that has costumed actors and actresses available for kids' party hire so had the outfits readily available.

The walk was advertised ahead of time on the village's Facebook group, including a request to "please remember social distancing is very important to us all."

She said: "I honestly just wanted to just to raise some smiles for the children and families all stuck at home.

"Myself and my husband thought it would be a nice idea to walk around our village and wave to everyone and it really did do the trick, the village were so grateful.

"On our village community page on Facebook it was flooded with photos, videos and messages of thanks.

Kids were eager to wave hello to the Easter Bunny and Rapunzel

"Not only did the little ones love it but the elderly were up dancing and waving too, giving us the thumbs up and smiling, so it really was quite emotional to see.

"Can I also add that it was all done strictly under social distancing, everyone kept a distance and most were waving from their windows. I am really proud of everyone."

The Easter Sunday walk isn't the only thing the 33-year-old has come up with to help people through the lockdown.

She said: "I've been trying my best to do these little things to give some joy to everyone.

"I also have been doing live Facebook videos as different characters most weeks to interact with everyone, singing, dancing, arts and crafts and reading stories and I have had so much wonderful feedback.

"It has selfishly kept my own spirits up through this hard time too."
