Robber in 'machete' threat at betting shop

POLICE are hunting a man who entered a betting shop and threatened staff with a machete or a sword and demanded cash from the till.

He grabbed a large quantity of money from the premises in Brookfield Court, Ashford, and then ran off in the direction of Crownfield Road.

The incident happened at about at 10.50am on Tuesday. Police say the weapon used is described as being between 2-3 foot long.

The robber was wearing a black tracksuit with a dark hooded top and a pink scarf around his face.

Det Sgt Mark Buck said: "No one was injured during the incident but the staff were understandably very shaken. We would like to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious."
