High Halden shooting: Police arrest second man

Police have arrested a second man on suspicion of attempted murder after a double shooting near a quiet Kent village left two men in hospital.

Armed officers swooped in to Plurenden Road and Marten Park at High Halden near Ashford at 11am yesterday, and officers set up a cordon around the area with roadblocks from the A28.

Police arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder shortly before 5pm, and have now confirmed a second man aged 29 was arrested in connection with the incident at around 9pm. Both remain in custody.

The two victims were flown to the Kings College Hospital in London. One has been discharged while the other is expected to be released soon.

Today, officers are continuing with their search of the area and have made a fresh appeal for witnesses.

Meanwhile the fire brigade has launched a drone aircraft to search an area near Bethersden in support of the Kent Police investigation.
