Three hospitalised and Ashford Road in Kingsnorth closed after serious crash

Three people are in hospital after a serious crash which has closed a main road in both directions in Ashford.

Emergency services including police, fire and ambulance services are at the scene in Ashford Road, Kingsnorth.

One person has been airlifted to King's College Hospital and is described as being in a serious condition.

Two others have been taken in ambulances to the William Harvey Hospital.

The crash has happened at the junction with Steeds Lane and Magpie Hall Road, next to Ashford Cricket Club.

Three ambulances, the Hazardous Area Response team and a number police cars were at the scene, as well as the air ambulance.

The crash comes just two days after another accident at the same junction on Saturday.

A police spokesman said: "We received a report of a collision involving a car and a van at 1.56pm.

"Officers are currently attending the scene in Ashford Road, Ashford near the junction with Magpie Hall Road.

"The ambulance service is also in attendance and two people have been taken to hospital."

A witness said: "All I really know is it was a pedestrian that was injured, and a blue van and Ford Focus were involved.

"The pedestrian looked pretty badly injured."

The road has since reopened.
