A serious crash involving a lorry and a van has shut a main road in both directions.

Emergency services are at the scene on A28 Great Chart Bypass in Ashford between the Matalan and Tithe Barn Lane roundabouts.

Police were called at 11am and are advising drivers to seek alternative routes.

Traffic is currently being diverted via Knoll Lane while officers deal with the incident.

It is understood to have involved a lorry and a flatbed van.
