Police are investigating after thieves reportedly stole hundreds of pounds worth of booze from a supermarket before escaping in a getaway car.

Officers were called to the Tesco Extra store at the Park Farm estate in Ashford at 5.45pm yesterday.

On Facebook witnesses said they saw the shoplifters setting off the store alarms when they fled out of a side door and into a car which then sped off.

Police say alcohol was taken, and that the inquiry is continuing. Tesco has been contacted for comment.
