Susan Sanger's prize-winning photo of Simon the alpaca

A picture of Simon the alpaca won a photographic competition at the Rare Breeds Centre, Woodchurch.

The tourist attraction launched the contest last November for the photo that best captured the centre and its animals.

Regular visitor Susan Sangercorr won with her study of Simon. She gets £100 and an annual pass for four people.

The competition was judged by local photographers Greg Allen and Jon Green with Gill Gibb, chief executive officer of Canterbury Oast Trust, which owns and runs the centre, and Sarah Kirk, the trust’s resident tweeter and regular photo-taker.

Mr Allen said: “It was a daunting task with so many amazing photos, but in the end we were unanimous when picking our winner.

“This photo showed real personality and warmth and made everyone smile when they saw it, a worthy winner.”

Joint second prizes went to Elsie Wibble for Piglet in Straw and Aime Squire for Chameleon. They each received £50 and an annual pass for four people.
