An entire sixth form will be working from home following a positive Covid-19 test.

The Wye School near Ashford told all of its older students that they have to work from home this week.

Being given then news today, 72 pupils will not be returning to school this week.

United Learning, the trust which runs the Wye School, told KentOnline: "There has been a single, isolated case of Covid-19 at the school.

"The Sixth Form hasn't 'closed', its 72 students are learning from home this week. This is per the advice from PHE."

The school's sixth form has only recently started producing A Level grades, with last month's results being its first batch after opening seven years ago.

Another school in the Ashford borough - Benenden School - previously announced 13 confirmed cases had been found.

With the cluster centred on two of its boarding houses, 140 of its students had to self-isolate.
