This eight-week-old female lurcher puppy was dumped in an Ashford bin

The bones of two seriously-malnourished lurcher puppies dumped in Ashford can be seen poking through their almost completely bald skin.

The two puppies - believed to be around eight weeks old - were rescued over the weekend by concerned members of the public.

The first - a female - was found dumped in a bin at the Eureka Leisure Park.

She was taken to the Barrow Hill Vets, in Maidstone Road for treatment.

The second dog - a male- was found abandoned in a field in Chilmington on Sunday morning.

He was taken to the Haven Boarding Kennels, in Mersham, by a member of the public - before being taken to Barrow Hill by kennel manager Brian Collins.

Although the two pups were found in different locations on separate days, it is believed that they could be from the same litter.

Mr Collins said: "The little girl was found on Friday in a bin. She was handed in to Barrow Hill Vets by a member of the public.

"She is now with us at the kennels and is recovering well, although she is in isolation.

"The little boy is still at the vets - although I expect him to make a good recovery too. They were both extremely malnourished. If they are from the same litter, it could be the case that there are more puppies out there from the same litter.

"Who would of thought that anyone would dump a dog in a bin?"

The puppies will stay at the Mersham kennels for seven days, and then will be handed over to Lurcher Rescue.

Mr Collins added: "Lurcher Rescue have already arranged for foster homes for them."
