A WOMAN who has stuck with her favourite supermarket for the last 41 years got more than just vouchers when her loyalty was rewarded.
Mary Welsh, who is 87, was delighted when staff at the Ashford store presented her with a framed print showing her at the grand opening back in 1961.
Mrs Welsh, from Newtown, Ashford, said: "I like Sainsbury's. I know it's silly, but I like going there and getting the same things and knowing where it all is. It was lovely to get the picture - I had a good cry when I came home. It made my day."
She added: "I'm going to get my grandson to hang the picture somewhere - maybe in my bedroom so I can see it every day."
Mrs Welsh has followed the supermarket from site to site as it has moved around Ashford from its very first store in the High Street.
She is a familiar face at the store and has got to know most of the employees over the years. Now her daughter, Dawn Brown, takes her to the supermarket every Friday to do her weekly shop.
