Swaffer takes karting title

KENT'S Matt Swaffer is following in the tracks of racing star Lewis Hamilton on a victory roll in the karting world.
The 28-year-old from Ashford has just clinched the 2007 Rotax Max Sprint summer championship title with another fine display at Lydd Raceway on Sunday.
Matt, who works in the construction industry, has been building on a fine first season in the championship having finished fifth overall last year.
He only bought the Red Speed Rotax Max senior kart two years ago and has shown his mastery of the highly sophisticated vehicle, which can reach speeds of 80mph.
He had a mixed first season but has shown his consistency this year winning the last four of the six-round championship.
Another victory in the final round on Sunday ensured he would claim the title and will be presented with his trophy at the next meeting.
