A TATTY tabby cat found on the streets with severe neck injuries is making a good recovery following extensive surgery by kind vets who have footed the bill.
Curious George, as he has been named, was so badly injured that his neck was red raw when he was brought to the Peter Edgar Veterinary Surgery, in Kennington Road, Willesborough, Ashford, almost two weeks ago.
The seven-year-old found in the Singleton area of Ashford, underwent two operations, one of which saw skin from his stomach grafted onto his neck.
“He is happy and comfortable and the surgery has gone very well even if he does look a bit like Frankenstein,” said practice manager Kathy Edgar. We still have no idea what happened to him.
“He is so loving and exceptionally affectionate after everything that has happened to him, so somebody must have loved him at some point.”
The first operation cost £1,400 and more money is needed to cover the rest of his surgery, which will cost hundreds more. The Kennington surgery is appealing for people to help them pay for his expensive treatment.
“We did think about putting him to sleep because of the state of his injuries but we decided to do the surgery and are paying for it out of our own pockets.
“He was riddled in fleas, had worms, had to be castrated and was emaciated. The RSPCA has given us £200 but anything anyone could give us would be a big help.”
