A tank of petrol, maybe some snacks for the road - and a quick load of laundry while you wait?

It may not seem like the most obvious combination, but drivers in Ashford can now wash and go after a self-service laundrette opened at a petrol station.

The Revolution Laundry kiosk has been installed at the Willesborough Service Station in Hythe Road, giving drivers the option to clean and dry their clothes on site.

It gives users the option of parking up and getting a wash on while they wait, with machines built for loads of up to 8kg and 18kg at the cost of £4 and £8 respectively.

There is also a dryer, which costs £2 to use.

The new facility is one of more than 5,000 units installed across the world by Revolution Laundry, which is part of the Photo-Me vending machine company.

The firm describes itself as "the biggest self-service laundry operator in Europe".

According to the company's website there are already two similar facilities in operation in the county, one at a Morrisons supermarket on Sheppey and another at the Stop 24 services near Folkestone.
