Three loose horses forced rush-hour drivers to take evasive action after escaping from a field in Ashford.

The animals - including one foal - were spotted running around the junction of Norman Road and Beaver Road in the south of the town.

The animals briefly stopped outside Ashworths Chemist before running again

Video footage showed a cyclist in a hi-vis jacket trying to round up the animals while motorists had to reverse to avoid them.

Resident Faye Ward says staff from the nearby Pets at Home store were trying to entice the horses with a bag of peanuts.

"The horses came down Norman Road at about 9am and went into the Beaver Business Park industrial estate," she said.

"They then went up Beaver Road, back down it again and then back along Norman Road."

The horses have now returned to their field, which is not far from the town's B&Q store, and repairs will be made to the fencing.
