Thug Wayne Campbell was thrown out of his lover's home in Ashford after a series of nasty attacks.

Then, another woman took pity on the homeless drug addict and invited him to stay.

But the 34-year-old bully repaid her kindness by raping her TWICE and then strangling her until she lost consciousness.

Wayne Campbell has been jailed

All of the attacks took place while he was on prison licence for burglary – and before he was returned to his cell, he took away goods stolen from a house nearby.

Canterbury Crown Court heard that he then stashed some of the loot in his cell at Elmley Prison where it was later found by the authorities.

"You put a dressing gown chord across her neck and pushed so hard she could not breathe..." - Judge Heather Norton

Campbell, who now lives in north London, has been jailed for a total of 12 years after being convicted of two rapes.

He had earlier admitted to four assaults on his ex-lover, including punching his victim and knocking her against a wall. He also admitted handling stolen goods.

The court heard how both his victims had been left traumatised by their experience - his former lover was now agoraphobic and withdrawn and at one point thought she would be “better off dead”.

Judge Heather Norton said that after being ordered to leave his girlfriend’s home he had become homeless. He was taken in by another woman, but he raped her.

The jury also heard that after the attack Campbell bizarrely apologised for what he had done and was asked to leave.

The case was heard at Canterbury Crown Court

“Your victim thought that was what you were going to do but you picked her up and threw her on a settee.

"You then put a dressing gown chord across her neck and pushed so hard she could not breathe.

“She told the jury she thought she was going to die and passed out," she added.

In jailing him, the judge said Campbell had shown no remorse for subjecting her to a terrifying ordeal.
