Stolen Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream returned to Co-op in Kennington, Ashford

Officers got into a sticky situation after finding a trolley filled with ice cream.

PCSOs rapidly responded to reports that a large number of Ben and Jerry's tubs had been stolen from the Co-op branch in Kennington, Ashford.

The hot weather meant it was a race against time to retrieve the chilled dairy products.

Celebrating their successful find on the Ashford Police Twitter account, a force spokesman said: "PCSO's found and returned a trolley full of #icecream which had been stolen from #COOP in #Kennington.

"Unfortunately it had all #melted."

Despite this the haul was returned to the shop.
