Two men accused of an attack in which a father-of-six was left critically injured appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday.

Christopher Goldfinch and Scott Stevens, both 22, are charged with causing Paul Hopkins, pictured left, grievous bodily harm with intent.

Mr Hopkins, 32, was allegedly assaulted in front of his wife and children in Beecholme Drive, Kennington, on August 2.

He was taken to London’s King’s College Hospital, where he needed brain surgery. Doctors say his condition is now stable.

Goldfinch, of Falcon Way, and Stevens, of Augustus Walk, were remanded in custody until September 21, when they will enter pleas.
