More M20 closures planned between Ashford and Westenhanger, Hythe, as bridge repairs continue

Drivers are being reminded of two more weeks of closures planned for the M20 - after the roadworks caused chaos over the last two weekends.
A section of the motorway - between Junction 10a in Ashford and Junction 11 in Westenhanger - is being closed on and off while major works to repair a bridge near Junction 11 continue.
But aerial photos taken this past weekend show the tailbacks created on the diversion route through Sellindge and Newingreen.
The reason for the disruption is because National Highways is replacing the bridge joints, kerbs, and resurfacing the bridge deck on Grove Bridge.
While the weekend closures are now finished, the junctions will be closed again each night this week from 9pm to 5am until Friday.
The same is planned for next Monday, October 24, to Friday, October 28.
National Highways programme delivery manager, Graeme Steward previously said: “Work like this gets planned months in advance.
"It requires careful planning and coordination, arrangements with contractors, materials, road closures amongst other things.
“The nature of the work being carried out means we have to complete it before the autumn weather starts, and it has been planned well in advance with our supply chain and other partners in Kent Highways.
“If this work is delayed it would mean a knock-on effect on other essential work in the area this year, including on bridges, potentially leading to unplanned emergency closures.”
The first of the closures, which started on Friday, October 7, overlapped with bus and rail strikes causing a weekend of gridlock.
The London-bound carriageway was shut from 9pm until 5am the following Monday.
The coast-bound carriageway was also closed on the Friday night, however it reopened the following morning reduced to two lanes and a 50mph speed limit.
Then, last weekend, the coast-bound carriageway between Junction 10A and 11 was again fully closed from 9pm on Friday, October 14 to 5am yesterday (Monday) morning.
Only lane three of the London-bound carriageway was closed at the same time.
From yesterday until Friday, there will be overnight closures on the coast-bound carriageway between Junctions 10A and 11 from 9pm to 5am including lane three only on the London-bound carriageway.
Then from Monday next week, the London-bound carriageway will be closed every night until Friday including lane three only on the coast-bound carriageway.
While the motorway is closed, the diversion route will be in place along the A20, A261, A259 and A2070 to go London-bound and the same roads in reverse order to go coastbound.
