Dog owners are being urged to make sure their pets behave when walking through Ashford’s cemeteries.
Ashford Borough Council has received a number of complaints from the public about dogs fouling in Bybrook cemetery and owners failing to clear it up, as well as dogs disturbing people tending to graves.
Although it is not compulsory for dogs to be kept on leads in cemeteries, owners are being asked to respect other users by keeping their pets under control, and ideally use leads if a funeral is taking place.
In response to the complaints, the dog warden will be increasing patrols of Bybrook cemetery and other areas, and will issue on the spot fines to people failing to clean up after their dogs.
