Valuable 18th century marble statues stolen from Wye gardens near Ashford

The white marble statues stolen from Olantigh Gardens, Wye

Police are appealing for information after two marble statues were stolen from Wye near Ashford.

The pair of early 18th century white marble figures by Flemish sculptor Albert Xavery were taken from Olantigh Gardens between 11pm on Tuesday, May 7 and 6.30am on Wednesday, May 8.

The statues of kissing children had been at the front of the Grade-II listed property owned by the Loudon family at Olantigh Road.

The manor, which has 20 acres of gardens, is one mile north of the village.
